In October 2025, I had the opportunity to travel to North East Germany around Usedom. Usedom fronts the Baltic Sea and borders with Poland. Water temperature was about 16 Degrees C. A feature of the area is the many lakes and the beaches along the north coast facing the Baltic Sea. Something I found really odd was the cane sand chairs placed at strategic locations on the beach, most of which faced opposite to the sea, so when you sit in them you sea the land from which you arrived rather than the sea horizon. The chairs are hand-crafted by just a few craftsman and can cost up to 2000 Euros! Because the weather was cool no one was in them, so here are these groups of empty cane things grouping together looking like aliens come to earth waiting for something to happen. All these images were taken between 6 and 7am as the sun was rising. The last few images show brave man entering the Baltic sea of 16 Degrees.
